Art and Architecture in Colombia
This Special Collection features more than 1300 photographs dedicated to circa 800 works of art and architecture in Colombia, reaching from the pre-contact era to the present day. The photographs were taken by Tristan Weddigen in Cartagena, Medellin, Villa de Leyva, Tunja, and Bogotá on the occasion of the 4th Transregional Academy on Latin American Art organized by the German Center for Art History (DFK), Paris, the Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, and the Bibliotheca Hertziana, held in Bogotá in 2022 and supported by The Getty Foundation. Prospero Andres Quinto Carbonell Cabrales collected and inserted the metadata, which is organized, defined, and linked according to the newest standard, based on the CIDOC-CRM ontology provided by the Swiss Art Research Infrastructure (SARI) within the EasyDB digital asset management system. This approach ensures that the open-linked data is locatable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR). While the photographic collection does not provide a comprehensive view of Colombia’s cultural heritage, it aims to support research and welcomes external contributions.
